The Butler County Fire Department was founded in Liberty Township and has been serving the community since the 1950’s. They currently have 18 full-time employees working 24 hours on and 48 hours off. The Liberty Township Fire Department provides a wide array of services to it's residents in addition to that of Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services. Among the services offered are residential fire safety inspections, CPR instruction, juvenile fire-setter counseling, and fire safety education speakers. The Fire Department of Butler County is composed of 3 main stations: Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 1; Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 2; Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 3.

The Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 1 was built in 1955 and was Liberty's 1st firehouse. It is currently located in North-West quadrant of the township. Renovations took place in 1969 to add three additional bays and a meeting room. It is currently staffed with 2 Full-Time Firefighters and 2 Part-Time Firefighters. At least two are crossed trained as Paramedics with the remaining trained as EMT-Basics. This station is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 2 is currently staffed with 2 Full-Time and 2 Part-Time Firefighters. Two of the firefighters are crossed trained as Paramedics and the others as EMT-Basics. They staff 1 Engine and 1 Advanced Life Support Squad. The Tanker is also housed at this station along with an antique fire truck currently not in service. This stations is located in southeast corner of the township and serves the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Liberty Township Fire Department - Station 3 is located in the south west area of the township on SR 747. It was built as the "headquarters" housing the administrative "command" staff. Station 3 has 5 Firefighters who are crossed trained in EMS. At least two of the 5 must be Paramedics. They staff 1 ALS Squad, 1 Rescue Pumper. The 110' aerial ladder is also housed at this station and is manned by cross staffing vehicles
